Ce piège expérimental se présente comme une alternative écologique et durable à la biologie nucléaire. Il offre également la possibilité aux chercheurs de capturer les mouches afin d'étudier la migration et l'évolution des différentes espèces. &nbsp; Par ailleurs, Pratchaya Phinthong a confié la production de 500 pièges à une entreprise thaïlandaise spécialisée dans la confection de tentes de méditation pour les monastères. En parallèle de l'exposition,  les 500 tentes bleues sont déployées en Zambie, Éthiopie et Tanzanie, afin de tester en situation leur efficacité. Ces pièces sont contenues dans des petits sacs portant le nom de La Criée centre d'art contemporain et de la biennale de Rennes, ainsi que le titre de l'exposition, <em>sleeping sickness</em>. En retour, Pratchaya Phinthong a invité les scientifiques et biologistes à lui transmettre des photographies des pièges en contexte avec les moyens dont ils disposent. Parmi les premiers documents reçus, un rapport envoyé par le département de biologie de Lusaka en Zambie détaille l'efficacité de ce nouveau piège – T1 correspond au prototype officiel et agréé, le T2 au prototype exposé à la Criée, rebaptisé par les chercheurs <em>Phinthong trap</em> et T3 au piège conçu par Pratchaya Phinthong et amélioré par les chercheurs. D'autres documents ou photographies seront ajoutés progressivement dans l'espace de La Criée, témoignant de l'évolution de l'œuvre dans le temps et l'espace.
