Depuis le début des années 80, il en parcourt les paysages terrestres et sous-marins avec une caméra vidéo. Si ses premiers travaux abordaient plus spécifiquement  la sculpture, avec des expériences d’immersion d’objets, le passage au médium vidéo marque pour l’artiste l’aboutissement d’une recherche.</p> Du Cabo da Roca, au Portugal, au Cape Wrath, au nord de l’Écosse, Marcel Dinahet a construit un itinéraire à partir de cartes marines, avec une attention toute particulière accordée au trajet précédant l’arrivée à destination. Car l’objectif est, pour l’artiste, de filmer à chaque étape les fonds marins et le travail préparatoire mené sur place pour prendre la mesure des données climatiques et de l’identité du site. L’étude de ses parcours et trajets, de sa mobilité ou de son immobilité, de ses instruments et procédures laisse apparaître un explorateur, marcheur, sculpteur, plongeur et réalisateur se frottant aux paysages, se confondant aux éléments mais aussi aux corps.
