projet_texte Array Single String <p class="chapeau">L’exposition <em>Safe Sounds</em> présentée à La Criée du 13 décembre 2013 au 16 février 2014, regroupe une sélection de films et vidéos de l’artiste libanais Ziad Antar, réalisés entre 2006 et 2013. Ces séquences, souvent courtes, sont représentatives de la démarche de cet artiste, guidée par l’économie de moyens et par « l’image comme idée* ».</p> L’image, fixe ou en mouvement, est au centre de l’œuvre de Ziad Antar. Les vidéos de la série <em>Night of Love</em>, débutée en 2009 et dont il réalise pour l’exposition deux nouveaux opus, sont différentes interprétations d’une des chansons d’Oum Kalthoum les plus populaires du monde arabe. À travers les plans fixes sur des musiciens aux styles et origines très différentes, se dessinent tout le paradoxe et la richesse de la musique, à la fois extrêmement ancrée culturellement et absolument universelle. Dans les œuvres de Ziad Antar, la situation conflictuelle du Liban et plus largement du Moyen-Orient n’est jamais représentée directement, mais est néanmoins très présente, comme un état de fait. Dans la vidéo <em>Safe Sound</em>, il filme le quotidien de sa famille pendant la guerre des 30 jours, qui opposa en 2006 Israël et le Hezbollah. On ne voit rien des combats et des morts, mais on perçoit la réalité de la guerre à travers la marche lente des heures, l’ennui des gens, le bruit des bombes et des tirs au loin. Ziad Antar développe une approche directe de la réalité du monde. Et de cette réalité - multiple, complexe, mouvante - il extrait des images qui sont des évidences.
